This April was our 12th trip to Mumbai and back, in 3 years of sailing Antara. In this season alone we have clocked 3,000 nautical miles of blue ocean sailing on Antara. Altogether, Team Antara has now sailed over 7,000nm!
A team of Coastguard officers sailed with us to Mumbai as a course in sail training with Dilip. Two senior and 2 junior officers with varied experience in sailing, they were up to the challenge and came through with flying colours.
A grand reception in Mumbai on April 1st, especially with a coastguard ship accompanying us all along the route and a ‘helo’ filming our sail into the harbour, ensured a memorable trip.
An Easter weekend sail back to Goa was made all the more enjoyable when Family Mahajan tumbled in for a ride. Dirk, a teacher at the German consulate in Delhi, was our only guest. Vikram, Deepa and Ananya made themselves at home and helped with all aspects of sailing, enjoying it so much they have promised to send us some guests in return.
The icing on the cake was an impromptu visit on the Singhania yacht, Asheena. A friend is Skipper and we happened to cross paths on our approach to Goa. Long windless patches and motoring had dried out the crew and the chilled beers aboard Asheena were a cool welcome home!
