This year’s season launch has been delayed for two reasons: the unseasonal, climate change driven, rowdy thunderstorms, and us misplacing the boat’s headlight! After searching high and low for the tricolour light that must be placed on the top of our mast we finally ordered a new one, from Germany. A few moments ago, we confirmed receipt of the light at a friend’s home in France. He flies in tomorrow. Thank you Aniket.
Motoring down from Divar last weekend, on a now familiar track, it felt good to be moving on the water once again. Alongside at the Captain of Ports, we set up the mast and rigging with the Hodi Shipyard team’s able assistance. They had us sorted within a day!
Old friends on holiday in Goa were hauled in as free labour and summarily put to work. A snag in the Genoa halyard gave us a few tense moments and Skipper had to make a rare climb up the mast to resolve the matter. Thanks to Rana and Sandhya, we were able to quickly replace the frayed halyard and do our first trial sail on Friday.
Yes it felt good to have Antara out on the seas again!
We should be all set this week for another trial sail. Sorting out some bits and bobs should then have us on track for our first sail to Bombay. Tentative dates are
Goa to Bombay: Nov 07 to 10
Bombay to Goa: Nov 16 to 18
Write, right back if you want to be on either sail!
