Caribbean calypso to bring in 2023

1

After reaching Barbados on Dec 18th we spent the rest of the year soaking in the sun. After those cold, rain soaked, sea drenched days, being on land in sparkling sunshine was a welcome change.

A change of crew here as we lost Mark and Gemma and got Sara, Jason, Ralph, Erin and Iona.

A short stay at Port St Charles, laundry and victualling done, we sailed off to the Grenadines. First stop was Bequia.

A beautiful little island of friendly people, wooden model boat making is one of their better known skillls.

It was also our introduction to the bright colours of this part of the world.

Couple of days here and we were off to St Vincent. By a stroke of luck we found ourselves a lovely cove for Christmas (that’s the video we’ve shared with this post). Christmas was celebrated with with swimming, snorkelling and scuba diving. This was followed by Drunch (dinner, drinks and lunch) of Goan sausage pulao, chickpeas and Cole slaw; topped with Christmas cake. Perfect.

We had this cove to ourselves and explored it to our heart’s content, even foraying into the lush jungle for an explore.

Then it was time to move to Pirate bay ()Wallilabou). Johnny Depp was here! We also got to celebrate Andrew’s birthday here…26 years after he celebrated his 40th in these islands!

Our return trip to Barbados was quite squally but we made it alright to Carlisle Bay. Right in time for new year! Anchored in the bay we had a fabulous view of the fireworks and signed into 2023 with quite a bang.

Wish you all a happy, healthy, happening 2023!!
