What was supposed to be an exploration with stops along the coast of Maharashtra, was abruptly brought to a halt when one of our fellow travellers injured his back. Get well soon Karl!
So we sailed directly back to Goa last weekend. We had steady winds through the trip except that for some time they were from the South, South East! In December!
The rudder indicator was stuck at 5 degrees to starboard and the autopilot would not work, so we hand steered all the way through. It was an interesting if strenuous exercise. As you can see, Skipper was hard at work at his ‘desk’ with just a bottle of Kelzai for company. We took turns to sleep and take it easy as a few hours of helming can be physically and mentally taxing.
We did have excellent company though: Reshad who was to do the longer trip with us could not give up the idea of a sail and joined us. If the purpose was to relax and recoup, we sure achieved that!
And it turned out to be the perfect location to watch the Jupiter - Saturn conjunction. I couldn’t get good pictures of it though. Nor of the special show that the bio-luminescence put up for us on Saturday night.
After a day to recoup and recharge we’re ready to sail out again. This weekend is a family sail to Netrani. Watch out for that update.
