Sailing the Atlantics can be challenging for your taste buds. The initial seasickness renders you incapable of imbibing anything but fruits. This crew prefers bananas, headed as we are, to the Carribean. We then gradually progress to soup, the ready to mix type. Then, just as we are ready to be gastronomically adventurous, we pull into harbour!
That’s when Mark and Dilip put on their chef hats and dish out their best boat recipes, gallantly led by Sir Robin.
Our food fest was launched with Sir Robin’s famous Pot Mess: you have to sail with him to be able to sample it!
That has been rapidly followed up with Pepper Chicken a la Dilip, Bombay Aloo, Gemma & Mark’s Spag’bol and this evening, DD’s Lamb curry. We are eating rather well.
Mark was following Dilip every step of the way as he made his trademark chicken curry. Gemma made detailed notes on making the masala including how to crackle the mustard seeds.
The next day Gemma and Mark dished out the most delicious spaghetti bolognese: we polished off every last bit of it!
We also managed to slip in a couple of meals ashore, as well as a visit to a local patisserie, where the video above was taken.
The lamb curry this evening is to be accompanied by a screening of Zulu, starring Michael Caine.
And that’s the other fest we have on here. A great selection of movies and many more days of sailing to look forward to.
