Officially, we were ready end October. But our Skipper’s stringent requirements and eagle eye for safety ensured our first sail was on 03 November, when we took the Toles out for a short ‘chukker’
That was followed by a mix up of dates which worked well for us as Skipper and First Mate went on a sail date instead. A friend captured the moment beautifully..
The Akolkar family sailed with us the next day and despite half of them being really seasick, insisted that they had a wonderful time!
After a quick clean up with the help of our helper elves, we moved Antara to Dona Paula on her moorings there.
And promptly took some friends on another sail…Mukta, Sharan, Hune, Rashmi and Abhay joined us for a leisurely cruise on a beautiful morning
The winter months in December ensure a steady flow of friends into Goa, and the Pingles were our next set set of guests. Them and their dogs too!
Bad weather was predicted for the next few days, so we moved Antara back to Captain of Ports jetty in Panaji and sailed from there to Bombay. Our sole crew, Tushar signed up for an upwind sail, but the weather gods played truant. We sailed downwind to Mumbai and reached in a record 3 days and 2 nights, shaving off 24 hours from our typical sail time.
We realised then that we had managed to avoid the depression in the Arabian Sea, which pounded Goa with rain the day after we left and sent strong winds to Bombay on our arrival there.
We will spend this week here and sail back on the weekend.
